Future Games Contest deadline looms

Two weeks left for app developers to obtain funding, access to users and support from EMI, Tate, National Geographic and IPC Media.

Only two weeks remain for applicants to enter the Future Games Contest which will provide small companies with up to £25,000 in funding for the development of prototypes that use games technology in new ways. The successful applicants will also have their technologies trialled with consumers, providing valuable feedback before launch.

IC tomorrow, a Technology Strategy Board programme, is running a contest for the University Of Abertay Dundee which is known for its world-leading courses in computer arts and computer games technology. A number of exciting content providers will be providing additional support.

To enter the contest, a web submission form must be completed, along with a two minute pitch video available on YouTube. Applications need to address one of the following challenge areas:

  • The use of games technology in a non-gaming context – supported by IPC Media
  • Games ideas using digital creative content – supported by National Geographic
  • Social games using existing communities – supported by Tate
  • Music games application – supported by EMI

Stage one submissions must be completed and entered by 12pm Thursday 15th September. Up to 12 selected finalists will be invited to take part in stage two and will be notified on Friday 23rd September. The winners will be announced mid October.
