Responsibilities
Your primary responsibility will be to lead the development of the platform user interface and backend service API's, constantly striving to improve user experience by ensuring everything is as responsive and scalable as possible by delivering high quality and optimised code.
Development for our backend API's
Providing updates, enhancements and new features to our platform UI
Evangelise best practices through effective consultation with your peers
Work with 3rd party vendors and continually review the latest technologies to help us stay ahead of the game
Engage with the operations and engineering teams to automate and improve our tools and processes

Requirements - If you have most of the following, then we definitely want to hear from you:
4+ years industry programming experience
A proven track record of building scalable multiplayer backend solutions
Demonstrable experience in microarchitecture and Restful API's/JSON
Design, specification and development of backend services
Expert level JavaScript
Mid level c# .NET
Experience with Gamesparks (desirable but not essential)
Deep knowledge of HTML5/CSS3
A proven track record building solutions for cloud PaaS, Iaas
Good database skills including SQL and NOSQL
Strong experience of frontend frameworks and libraries (React, etc.)
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Strong knowledge of Git source control
Strong database configuration / management skills
Data analysis/design skillsLinux/bash command line

Desirable not not essential
Other programming language experience such C++, JAVA, NodeJS, PHP
Frameworks - ReactJS, Drupal
Experience of writing games

We are seeking an exceptional DevOps / Infrastructure engineer with a proven background of delivering hyperscale infrastructure. In this role you will have the opportunity to have a significant input on our architecture, working with our CTO.

You will be passionate about improving systems for daily operations, for build delivery and continuous integration to provide a platform for improving the stability of our products. You will be focussed on automation and improving workflow, in providing tools and systems for delivering builds, and build stability. You will help to develop and oversee our continuous delivery tools and pipelines for consistent releases with minimal downtime through automated build processes, packaging, testing and deployment. You will identify and address any functional and performance issues as well as security risks and manage, monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure built with a global scale in mind.

Key responsibilities;
To be accountable for our infrastructure - that means doing whatever is needed to meet an agreed goal / target
Ensuring our infrastructure is optimally designed to deliver a first class service to our customers
Ensuring our architecture is provider agnostic such that we;
Can ensure the very closest placement of infrastructure to customers
The best commercial arrangements
That we are not constrained by provider shortages / delays
Ensuring that we are operating efficiently (no sprawl, right sized)
Ensuring our services are well maintained and up to date
Ensuring our services are highly secure
Ensuring that the roadmap is maintained
Providing an input in to budgets and planning as required
Maintaining good vendor relationships, and ensuring we take advantage of any value add.
To provide support as required, including out of hours for major incidents.
To automate wherever possible
Keep up to date with the latest technology to ensure we remain at the leading edge
To support and coach staff as required

Key background and experience;
Extensive experience with on premise and cloud infrastructure, including;
Design and architecture (including security)
Experience with Azure and AWS
Hyperscale infrastructure design / support
Orchestration using frameworks such as OpenStack, Azure Stack, Kubernetes...
Windows and Linux (preferably Unbuntu) workloads
Database administration (MS SQL, MySQL)
Automation / scripting (e.g. Powershell, bash)
Systems management toolsets (e.g. SCCM, Puppet, Saltstack)
The following would be an advantage;
Experience with containerisation (eg. Docker)
Experience with Jenkins
Experience with running a hybrid cloud environment
Programming experience (ideally .Net, Javascript)
Experience of vendor management
The following are essential;
5+ years of previous relevant experience
Experience in a customer facing company supporting a hyperscale infrastructure (eg. NetFlix or Spotify)
Proven track record of delivery
A “can do” attitude - there is always a way!
Experience as a technical team lead
Experience coaching and training others
Customer focussed
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Structured and methodical in problem solving
Strong communication skills and flexible team player
