TIGA welcomes Spil Games as its latest member

By December 13, 2013 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the video game industry, has welcomed Spil Games, a global leader in online gaming, as its latest member.

Spil Games’ global network of online gaming platforms is localized into 15 languages and attracts over 180 million active users each month. The company brings free games to its players, a huge audience to its advertising partners, and a broad consumer base to its development partners across multiple devices: mobile, tablet, desktop; anytime, anywhere.

At its core, Spil Games is a games publisher, with more than 300 staff of over 40 nationalities, and scouts the world for the best content from online game developers. Spil Games focuses on three key audiences: girls, teen boys, and women, and invests a lot of energy in staying informed about these diverse audiences’ interests, as well as developing content through its in-house game studios.

Spil Games’ UK gaming platforms include www.girlsgogames.co.uk, www.agame.com, www.a10.com, www.zibbo.com and www.games.co.uk. Spil Games also develops its own very successful online games, such as Sara’s Cooking Class (19 Sara games are played every second).

With regard to the future, Spil Games is investing heavily in HTML5 gaming. It has just announced an investment of $5M in HTML5 game developers next year, to help make their games a success, simplify the HTML5 development process and bring Spil Games audiences to their games to ensure developers make a sustainable return.

Victor Horbach, Head of Business Development, Spil Games, said:

“The UK is one of the most important developer and publisher markets in Europe. Not only London, which is arguably now the premier tech hub in Europe, but also across the country, with clusters of highly skilled games businesses in the UK all featuring new and established studios that develop really cool, high quality games. Spil Games is joining TIGA to build stronger relationships with UK developers and publishers. In return, Spil Games can offer them a platform to reach and monetise a greater audience on the web, on mobile and around the world.”

Richard Wilson,  CEO, TIGA, added:

“As the trade association for developers and digital publishers, TIGA warmly welcomes Spil Games as a leading global online games publisher and a great addition to our network. I look forward to seeing Spil Games at our events, to connect with other top quality studios and publishers, as well as gaining and sharing valuable insights on both the UK and international online gaming markets.”
