TIGA welcomes PlayCanvas as its latest member

By February 17, 2014 Press Releases

TIGA the trade association representing the UK videogame industry has welcomed London based games technology company, PlayCanvas, as its latest member.

PlayCanvas is a next generation web-based game engine and the world’s first cloud-hosted game development platform. It uses the web to bring social development and Google Docs-style real-time collaboration to game creators.

Powered by HTML5, PlayCanvas makes cross-platform deployment simple for desktop, tablet and mobile and is fundamentally changing how video games are built, shared and played.

The power and potential of PlayCanvas’ development platform has been gathering increasing recognition in the past 12 months, with the company being a semi-finalist in Amazon’s Global Startup Challenge, graduating from TechStars, the world’s premier startup accelerator and triumphing at the Startup AddVenture Summit in Kiev.

TIGA members may also be interested to hear that PlayCanvas has recently launched a Pro subscription, which allows developers to work in private and create titles on a larger scale.   Next up for the company is an appearance as a finalist at this year’s South by South West Accelerator, where PlayCanvas will be presenting a completely revamped build of its toolset.

Will Eastcott, CEO and co-founder, PlayCanvas, commented:

“The UK has a thriving indie development scene with some of the best creative talent in the world. PlayCanvas is dedicated to helping indie developers connect and collaborate on the next generation of browser, mobile and social games. Joining TIGA enables us to reach our native developer community more easily and supply it with the tools to keep it ahead of the competition.”

Dr. Richard Wilson, CEO, TIGA, added:

“We welcome PlayCanvas to the TIGA community and look forward to seeing them take part in our events and build new partnerships through our extensive network. It’s great to see not only UK game developers but UK tech companies join TIGA. Given the huge potential of cloud based development and browser gaming, we are confident PlayCanvas will create and deliver real and lasting value for the UK indie development community.”
