New studio’s first game will be ‘Painting Gallery with Niru Niru and Friends’

TIGA, the network for game developers and digital publishers, and trade association representing the UK videogame industry, has welcomed Joyful Works as its latest member.

Joyful Works is a game development company that focuses on creating safe, family-friendly games for children. The studio’s first title; Painting Gallery with Niru Niru and Friends is due to be released in mid-March 2015.

The game encourages and empowers children’s creativity by helping them create paintings, either by painting freely or by using pre-designed stickers and templates, and create their own painting gallery. They can also learn as they play, with voice-support available for parents to help teach their children the names of colours.

Painting Gallery with Niru Niru and Friends is planned to be the first in a new franchise of children’s videogames that Joyful Works is developing, with four titles being made as part of the Niru Niru and Friends series and another puzzle game with a broader audience in mind.

Joyful Works CEO, Basar Simitci decided to establish the company in the UK in December 2014, following 13 years in I.T. and two years in the Turkish videogame industry. During that time Basar volunteered to work for and support the Turkish Video Game Developers Association. Since then, Basar, his wife Asli, and his colleague and long-time friend Sercan Sengun have been working hard on Painting Gallery with Niru Niru and Friends.

Basar Simitci, CEO, Joyful Works, said:

“TIGA’s activity and focus on supporting developers, helping them to survive and thrive are commendable. It was an easy decision for Joyful Works to join TIGA, so that we can benefit from their services and support, as well as helping TIGA to do more for the UK games industry.”

“I hope our TIGA membership will help us to build the presence our company has within the UK videogame industry as well as growing the business too. I’m also looking forward to the opportunity that being a member provides to give back to the industry, by supporting and participating in TIGA’s work.”

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO, TIGA, added:

“The TIGA team offers Joyful Works a warm welcome to our community. It is extremely encouraging to see the industry in the UK attracting international developer talent of the calibre of Basar and Sercan, especially when they have such an appealing vision and focus on making videogames for the whole family, broadening the demographics of our sector’s audience.”

“I look forward to sharing and celebrating more of Joyful Works’ games and achievements with fellow TIGA members and the wider UK videogame industry.”
