TIGA welcomes Dimensional Imaging as its latest member

By June 3, 2014 Press Releases

TIGA, the network for game developers and digital publishers in the UK has announced world-leading 3D & 4D facial image capture company, Dimensional Imaging, as its latest member.

Dimensional Imaging (DI) supplies high definition 3D facial image capture and 4D facial performance capture systems, solutions and services to the entertainment and research sectors. DI works with some of the world’s leading entertainment companies including Electronic Arts, Sony Computer Entertainment and Valve Corporation, with more customers based around the world including the UK, Europe, USA, and Canada.

Recent high-level projects DI has delivered, using the company’s 4D surface image capture system – DI4D™ to provide the highest fidelity of facial motion capture, include Remedy Entertainment’s Xbox One game ‘Quantum Break’, as well as capturing the facial performances of three Oscar winning actors for two separate film and TV projects

The company is renowned for its high fidelity data capture, and DI’s 3D and 4D solutions and services make it well placed to assist with the entertainment sector’s increasing demand to produce more true-to-life facial animation.

In particular, DI’s ground breaking DI4D™ solution, which captures 3D scan sequences of dynamically changing surfaces, meets this demand by delivering incredibly realistic, extremely dense, facial animation, acquiring much more of the subtlety and nuance of facial performance than alternative approaches.

The company is continuing to invest in its own IP and technology, and is in the process of developing a head mounted version of its DI4D™ capture system. This will mean more freedom of movement for actors, enabling superior performance and convenience of full performance  capture. For example, facial and body motion capture can now be achieved at the same time, as DI’s system can be used simultaneously with traditional marker based body motion-capture, and requires no markers, makeup or specialised illumination.

Any TIGA members that are interested in finding out more about the huge potential of DI’s head mounted camera system are encouraged to attend the official launch at SIGGRAPH in Vancouver from 12th-14th August. The company also exhibited at the recent Nordic Game Conference as part of the TIGA & UKTI delegation.

Colin Urquhart, CEO, Dimensional Imaging, comments:
“As Dimensional Imaging continues to invest in and increase its activities across the games industry, we felt it was important to become a member of TIGA. This will allow us to become more involved, and have more of a say, in the continually evolving issues and challenges affecting the UK games industry today.

“Joining TIGA will give Dimensional Imaging the opportunity not only to attend and speak at TIGA’s events, but also gain knowledge and advice from other industry experts, as well as network with fellow members.

“We have already benefited from being part of the TIGA delegation to the Nordic Game Conference, and hope our membership will help us maximise our contribution to and involvement in the games industry throughout the UK and beyond.”

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO, TIGA added:
“TIGA has many top UK technology companies amongst our membership and we offer a warm welcome to Dimensional Imaging as the latest addition to our community.

“DI are clearly at the forefront of 3D and 4D imaging technology, and are working on some of the most exciting new video game IP and projects out there.

“I look forward to seeing them at our events in Scotland and around the UK and I am confident the opportunity to network with other members, exchange ideas and expertise, as well as discussing the challenges facing them and the industry will prove to be of huge value.”
