TIGA welcomes Atom Republic as its latest member

By December 16, 2013 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK video game industry, has welcomed independent, online game developer and digital publisher, Atom Republic as its latest member.

Atom Republic was founded in September 2012 by Tanguy Dewavrin who has worked in the European video game industry for over 17 years, in a range of lead artist and art director roles at top studios including Double Six, Kuju and Argonaut Games.

The studio is focused on innovative social gaming, creating new games, virtual worlds and the virtual items and creatures needed to populate them, including clothes, pets, personal spaces, character animations and vehicles.

Within a year of launch, Atom Republic had already become a major player in PlayStation Home, with its own virtual store, creating content for release in North America, Europe and Asia. The studio was shortlisted for Best Start Up at the 2013 TIGA Awards and also has a loyal, growing fan-base and strong social media presence with almost 4,000 likes on Facebook, and more than 1,000 followers on Twitter.

The Atom Republic Park is a new virtual public space in PlayStation Home – a 3D environment where users can meet up to chat, dance and play games.

Tanguy Dewavrin, founder, Atom Republic, said:

“Atom Republic is delighted to be part of TIGA’s developer and digital publisher network. We are always open to exploring new opportunities and ways of making exciting, innovative social games. The chance to network with other TIGA members to find interesting potential partners and discuss game development and publishing opportunities is hugely valuable to an up and coming studio like ours.”

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA, added:

“We warmly welcome Atom Republic as new members of TIGA and look forward to seeing them at our many networking and information sharing events soon. The traction the studio has generated in less than 12 months, on as major platform as PlayStation Home is impressive indeed. I’m sure our network of developers and digital publishers will find the opportunity to discuss and learn from Atom Republic’s experience and expertise equally beneficial.”
