TIGA, the trade association representing the video game industry has announced the winners of its 2013 GameHack with simultaneous events held at Abertay University in Dundee and Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
Both venues were sold out with more than 200 attendees from all levels of the games industry, from across the country, taking on the unique creative challenge of collaborating to make a game from scratch in 24 hours. Attendees were competing against each other for numerous different awards, with all the proceeds raised from ticket sales – a total of £1,075 going to TIGA’s charity partner, SpecialEffect.

Ryan Locke, Lecturer in Media Design, University of Abertay Dundee, said:
“Abertay and I are delighted with success of this year’s GameHack. The event couldn’t have gone any better. It was great to see faces both old and new, show up and work to such high standards in such little time. I’m especially proud of the students who made such a valiant effort on their first ever game jam event – they really gave some of the pro’s a run for their money!
“It’s been a pleasure working with TIGA to make something this worthwhile and I cannot wait for the next one!”
Dr. Richard Wilson, CEO, TIGA, added:
“TIGA GameHack has gone from strength to strength, with more support, more attendees, more events and bigger prizes. None of which would be possible without the backing of TIGA’s leading members and sponsors. We are very grateful for everyone’s support, which helped us to deliver the best TIGA Gamehack yet. These events provide developers with the perfect opportunity to experiment with new game ideas, collaborate with new teams and work in a new environment.”
