Dr Richard Wilson OBE, TIGA CEO, today met Natasha Irons MP for Croydon East and member of the House of Commons Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.
They discussed the important and potential of the UK video games industry; helping small studios to scale up and grow; and the importance of Video Games Expenditure Credit (VGEC).
TIGA previously submitted proposals to the UK Government suggesting ways to enhance VGEC, including the concept of an Independent Games Tax Credit (https://tiga.org/news/spending-review-2025-tiga-calls-on-the-uk-government-to-enhance-the-video-games-expenditure-credit).
This would provide a rate of 53 per cent on 80 per cent of qualifying costs on budgets for games of up to £23.5 million, in line with the existing Independent Film Tax Credit.
