By September 17, 2013 Press Releases

Bucharest, 17th of September 2013: Launched today, the Romanian Game Developers Association – RGDA is the first association in Romania that sets out to support and promote the local industry and contribute to the development of both industry professionals and newcomers.

“We needed a common ground of discussion, where the voice of every person involved in the industry can be heard, no matter if we are talking about game developers, startups or large companies,” says Andrei Istrate, cofounder RGDA. “We are envisioning projects that have a real impact on the education and development of the many talents in this industry, but also projects that will inform and promote the real value they are adding in Romania.”

Following an idea launched by three specialists in game development, RGDA was formed as a non-profit organization, whose purpose is to create a community of resources that can generate information and education, while at the same time promote and defend the interests of the video game industry in Romania. Developing an integrated information platform dedicated to the industy, organizing workshops for students and meet-ups for professionals are just some of RGDA’s projects.

Open both to professionals and companies, the association is already supported by TIGA – The Game Developers Association from UK and one of the most important industry organizations in Europa. Moreover, Dr. Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO, present in Romania for RGDA’s launching day, reinstated the partnership between the two associations and emphasized the contribution of the Romanian association to the development and strengthening of local game developers community.

RGDA has also made the first steps in establishing partnerships with the student association ROSEdu, with TechHub Bucharest and with the Association of the Software and Services Industry (Asociația Patronală a Industriei de Software și Servicii – ANIS).

More information about RGDA is available on www.rgda.ro/en.
