Planned videogame publication receives TIGA backing

By July 16, 2012 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games
industry, has lent its backing to a planned videogame magazine which aims to
celebrate gaming's history.

The organisation is calling on members to get behind Retro
Fusion which covers retro games and systems as well as old films and television
programmes.

The full-colour magazine will run to 104 pages but in order
to launch it needs funds via crowd sourcing website Indiegogo.

Any cash raised will go towards printing and distributing
the magazine which will include a look back at science fiction games, the
making of 1996 real time strategy game, Z,
and a retrospective of Megaman.

Support has already been pledged by Archer Maclean, The
Oliver Brothers and Jon Hare and developers who take up certain, low-cost
support packages will gain an advertisement in the magazine.

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA, said:
“Chris Wilkins first
produced Retro Fusion back in 2005 and he distributed it at GameStation stores
but, for family reasons, he had to stop its production. His desire to bring the
magazine back and his incredible hard work in attempting to do so is worthy of
backing, we feel. It is important to document gaming's history and we support
any endeavour which aims to do that.”

Chris Wilkins, editor of Retro Fusion, said:
“We are
delighted to have the backing of TIGA. Retro Fusion aims to take you back to
your youth, celebrating the games you played on your favourite retro system as
well as the toys, films, TV programmes and every other nostalgic memory that
you have of your childhood days'. We hope we can make it happen.”
