By July 27, 2009 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK’s games industry, today announced Mere Mortals as its newest member.

Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Mere Mortals was founded in 1999 and is comprised of three closely integrated divisions – television, film and iptv post production; game development and web.

In the field of Post Production Mere Mortals have worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Danny Boyle on Slumdog Millionaire, Sunshine and 28 Weeks Later, as well as international and domestic brands such as LaCoste and Newcastle United.

Mere Mortals established its gaming division over nine years ago, since then the team have built a reputation for providing creative and professional development solutions for the games industry and have produced products for the Wii, PS3, XBOX360, PSP, PC and PS2, most recently World Sports Party for Ubisoft and PDC World Championship Darts for Oxygen Interactive.

Steve Walmsley, Managing Director at Mere Mortals stated: “The business model at Mere Mortals is quite unique for a media and games company, firstly we have a truly global approach in the way we work; secondly, we work across all creative industries, and do not limit ourselves to just one medium. Ultimately, the market is shaping the way our business is evolving and our approach makes it possible for us to react quickly to global trends.””

“We are joining TIGA because we believe TIGA is the trade body that is representing the important issues which face game developers in the UK, that is effectively lobbying Government on issues such as tax breaks and education, promoting our industry in the media and providing developers with access to services that benefit our business.””

Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO stated: “The joining of Mere Mortals is a fantastic addition to the TIGA family. Mere Mortals bring with them rich experience in working across a wide range of creative industries, something we are keen to foster across the industry via the Play Together initiatives announced last month. We look forward to working with Mere Mortals on this and other key TIGA programmes.””
