By November 6, 2013 Press Releases

Invaluable support of TIGA members coincides with record-breaking number of Game Of The Year votes

TIGA, the trade association representing the video game industry has announced Lockwood Publishing as the latest sponsor of the 2013 TIGA Games Industry Awards. Thanks to the support of TIGA members and partners like Lockwood, the TIGA Awards are going from strength to strength. The 2013 event at Pinewood is set to be a roaring success with tickets already sold out, reflecting the increased number of terrific entries and generous sponsors.

2013 has also seen a record-breaking number of votes cast for the TIGA Game Of The Year Award, sponsored by Edge. With more than 2000 votes cast in 2012, this year more than 10,500 votes were received, demonstrating the TIGA Awards, created to more fairly represent the whole industry, has captured the public’s imagination too.

Based in Nottingham, Lockwood is a highly successful online publishing studio specialising in social games, virtual worlds and desirable virtual items. Lockwood has assembled a world-class team with an unblemished track record for creativity, innovation and delivery of high quality content.

TIGA members may also be interested to hear more about Avakin, Lockwood’s unique social avatar platform which allows users to share one account across multiple applications, meaning people can move between dressing up their avatar to playing games, including Avakin Poker, with ease. Users can make new friends – find like-minded souls by reviewing people’s interests in their profiles, complete milestone challenges and reap the rewards. By exploring all Avakin has to offer they receive free Avacoins to spend on more clothes, hairstyles and features for their avatar. Lockwood constantly supports Avakin with new features and updates, regularly releasing new content such as clothing.

Avakin Life is the upcoming third application in the Avakin universe, set to initially release this month. Avakin Life allows users to take their avatar creations into a 3D world, with multiple locations to explore and fellow users to meet and interact with, in both public and private spaces. The latter of which they can customise with furniture to their hearts content. Other users can access their creations and rate them for their style and hospitality. After the launch, Lockwood will be regularly releasing new content for Avakin Life, including new furniture, animations and scenes, all available for purchase. Avakin Life will initially be available on PC for a short Beta period, and will then be available on iOS and Android in December 2013.

To find out more, you can follow Avakin on twitter, like the Facebook page, subscribe to the YouTube channel and also download for PC, iOS and Android.

Halli Bjornsson, CEO, Lockwood Publishing, said:

“It´s essential that UK developers work together to help increase the exposure of UK talent and products, as well as celebrating them. Even for the highest quality products it´s getting harder and harder to find and reach the right players. So winning accolades like the TIGA Awards can hopefully go a long way towards helping people get the traction their hard work and skill deserves.”

Dr. Richard Wilson, CEO, TIGA, added:

“TIGA, and indeed the TIGA Awards would not be the success they are today without the support of great developer and digital publisher businesses like Lockwood. I’d like to thank Halli for his ongoing commitment and support, and wish all the entrants into this years awards the very best of luck.”
