Kukinto join TIGA

By May 16, 2012 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, today
announced Kukinto as their
newest member.

Kukinto
are a technology consultancy & software house, specialising in (but not
restricted to) free and open source technologies and open / industry standards.
Established in 2009, they have worked on public and private-sector
solutions, mainly involved in security, geospatial, and entertainment projects,
including the development of a custom embedded gaming / media platform.

Kukinto
have created Aurio, a 3-dimensional, fully accessible, mobile multiplayer game
for iOS and Simulare, a global, extensible, business simulation engine for
academic, business, and gaming markets. They are also in the process of
planning a unique mobile game for the visually impaired.

Phil J. Laszkowicz of Kukinto explains
the reason why he decided to join TIGA:

“There’s a strong heritage in the
UK for games development, including a rich and continued history of indie games
developers. Kukinto specialises in Free / Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS),
and believe in an ethos of adopting standards and common frameworks to assist
in the development and progression of technologies.

We feel we can contribute
to the TIGA / UK games community by providing our specialist services to
developers and publishers when bringing concepts and projects to market. With
TIGA we’re looking to create a solid partnership to support both the indie and
the established independent games developers and publishers in the UK, by
providing design and development services in both research and design, and in
product development.”

Dr. Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO
welcomed the organisation to TIGA:

“At TIGA we believe that video
games can make a positive
contribution to the economy, to education and business
and to people’s lives. Kukinto exemplify this well: their business is contributing
to the economy, they have been involved in ‘serious’ projects relating to
education and industry and they are developing a game for visually impaired
people. TIGA is proud to welcome Kukinto to its membership and we look forward
to working with them in the future.”
