DOWNLOAD: Letter template for lobbying candidates ahead of General Election in support of the games industry

By May 29, 2024 May 31st, 2024 TIGA News

The General Election is now confirmed for July 4th and, as we outlined last month in the ambitious 10-point 2024 TIGA Manifesto, support from the next Government and Parliament will be crucial if the UK video games industry is to seize the $190bn global opportunity that lays before it.

To that end, we have drafted a letter template that all TIGA members can personalise and send to their local Parliamentary candidates, stressing the importance of the Video Games Expenditure Credit (VGEC) and the introduction of an Independent Games Tax Credit (IGTC).

It outlines how these measures benefit an industry that employs over 25,000 full time development staff in 1,801 studios. It reinforces the need to retain and enhance the existing VGEC and augment it with an IGTC to enable our industry to compete on a level playing field against our overseas competitors and to drive economic growth.

I encourage you all to download the letter template and send it to your local candidates as part of a huge effort by the TIGA community to put games at the top of the next Parliament’s creative industry agenda.

Together we can make a real impact on policy.
