By September 2, 2016 Press Releases

TIGA, the network for games developers and digital publishers and the trade association representing the video games industry, said today that the best UK universities were building links with the industry, promoting the employability of their graduates and demonstrating innovation and excellence. TIGA made the comments following the news that for the second year running, Dundee based Abertay University will be sponsoring ‘Best Educational Institution’ at the 2016 TIGA Games Industry Awards.

TIGA promotes best practice and excellence in education. TIGA achieves this partly through the TIGA Games Industry Awards and partly through the TIGA University and College Accreditation system. The TIGA Accreditation system was set up in January 2015 in order to disseminate and to encourage best practice in universities and colleges and to highlight good courses for students and employers. In 2015, the award for Best Educational Institution was won by Sheffield Hallam University and was presented by Professor Gregor White, Head of the School of Arts, Media and Computer Games at Abertay University,

Dr Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO, said:

“UK universities are a success story. The best UK universities are building links with the industry, promoting the employability of their graduates and demonstrating innovation and excellence. I am delighted that TIGA is able to support colleges and universities via the TIGA Games Industry Awards and through the TIGA University and College Accreditation system. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Abertay University for demonstrating their support, enthusiasm and commitment for the TIGA Games Industry Awards and for generously sponsoring the category of ‘Best Educational Institution’ for the second year running. I would also like to wish all entrants ‘good luck’ in the 2016 TIGA Games Industry Awards”
