TIGA wins four awards at the Trade Association Forum Best Practice Awards

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, last night scooped four awards at the annual Trade Association Forum Best Practice Awards: ‘Annual Report of the Year Award’; ‘Commercial Initiative Award’; the top award ‘Trade Association of the Year 2011’; and Richard Wilson was awarded the ‘Leadership Award’.

TIGA is the first trade association to have been awarded ‘Trade Association of the Year’ for two consecutive years. No other trade association has ever achieved this feat. The awards were superbly organized by the Trade Association Forum and held on the evening of 7th July at the Plaisterers Hall, London. The Awards featured the guest speaker Martin Bayfield, one of the tallest players in rugby.

TIGA was shortlisted as a finalist in seven categories – more than any other trade association:

1. Annual Report of the Year Award
2. Commercial Initiative Award
3. Marketing Campaign of the Year
4. Membership Pack Award
5. Membership Success of the Year
6. Publication of the Year
7. Sector Representation of the Year

TIGA was also shortlisted for two special awards:

1. Leadership Award (Richard Wilson)
2. Trade Association of the Year

Dr Richard Wilson TIGA CEO stated:

“TIGA is intent on building an enduring organisation, the best in its field, one which improves year on year, to benefit the UK games industry and the wider economy. We are therefore absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for these awards and to have won four.

“In particular, it is an extraordinary honour to have been awarded Trade Association of the Year 2011. This is the second year that TIGA has achieved this prestigious award. No other trade association has previously achieved this. I would like to thank the TIGA team: Lorna Evans, Vanessa Joyce, Suzi Stephenson, Nisha Valand and Richard Lee for their superb work and commitment to the TIGA cause. Above all, I would like to thank our members and the TIGA board for their support. While TIGA has won four awards, this is a success for the entire UK games industry.

“From a personal perspective, I am extremely honoured to have won the ‘Leadership Award’. It is a privilege to serve as TIGA CEO and I am grateful to the TIGA board for enabling me to serve our ambitious, dynamic, and exciting organisation.””

Jason Kingsley, TIGA Chairman and CEO and Creative Director at Rebellion, said:

“We are developing TIGA into a tenacious, innovative, growing and ambitious organisation in order to advance the interests of games developers and developer-publishers and to achieve our vision of making the UK the best place in the world to do games business. Winning four awards at the Trade Association Forum’s Best Practice Awards is a stunning achievement and confirms that TIGA is on track to achieve its ambitious goals.””
