TIGA, the trade association representing the UK video games industry, has been announced as winner of the Outstanding Educational Initiative (Teaching) category at the 2025 Best Business Awards in recognition of its accreditation system.
TIGA introduced its accreditation system to identify the best games courses, create a framework for sharing good educational practice and to promote the teaching of industry relevant skills.
As of January 2025, 48 courses from 19 universities and one college have achieved TIGA accreditation.
Universities with accredited courses can enter the annual TIGA Games Education Awards and attend the TIGA Games Education Conference free of charge.
Commenting on TIGA’s win, the Chairman of the judges said:
“Congratulations to The Independent Games Developers’ Association (TIGA), the trade association representing the UK video games industry, for introducing an accreditation system that identifies the best games courses and promotes best practice.”
Dr Richard Wilson OBE, TIGA CEO, said:
“TIGA is passionate about promoting excellence in education and so I am delighted that TIGA’s course accreditation system has been recognised in the Best Business Awards 2025.
