TIGA welcomes Ouya developer Kybele Studio as its latest member

By April 5, 2013 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the UKgames industry, is delighted to welcome Kybele Studio – one of the first
studios to create games for the Ouya console – as its latest member.

This young studio, based in Tech City, is devoted to
the design and development of not only videogames but also role-playing tools
for mobile platforms and other leisure related bespoke apps.

It is one of the first video game companies in the
world to have access to the first Android-based console Ouya, and it is among
the group of Ouya Elite Developers. It is also testing the new virtual headset
for 3D games, Oculus Rift.

The developer is currently working on a multiplayer
video game for the Ouya console called CrazyMarket Karts which will be ready
when the console is released to the general public in June.

Kybele was founded in the second half of last year
and has already various commissioned projects to work on as well as several
original ideas which it will complete in-house.

Explaining its unusual name director Dhaunae De Vir
said Kybele was one of the names of the Greek Goddess of good harvests and productivity. She said
living up to those standards was Kybele Studio’s mission statement.

Kybele Studio’s approach to video games and
technology is fresh and passionate. It is part of a collaboration scheme with
STEMNET to inspire youngsters through video games to choose STEM careers.  It has developed a role-playing tool for an American
company and hope to start developing the Pro version soon.

Dhaunae De Vir, director of Kybele, said:

“It was
obvious that joining TIGA would provide a unique position for Kybele Studio to
be able to exert influence on video gaming industry matters. Being a member of
this well-known institution of videogames professionals would also be
beneficial in terms of interesting opportunities for networking and promotion. Kybele
Studio joined TIGA very recently, and we have already enjoyed some of the solid
advantages of being a part of this organisation.”

Dr Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO, said:

“Kybele is at the forefront of the new independent
developer movement that is emerging in the UK. TIGA aims to assist Kybele and
similar indie developers get ahead by providing networking opportunities, best
practice information and advice and discounts on services and conferences. TIGA
looks forward to working with Kybele over the months and years ahead.”
