TIGA Conference to Debate Key Mobile and Tablet Games Issues

By January 29, 2013 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the games industry, has announced the final line-up for its mobile and tablet games event which takes place on Thursday 31 January at Modern Jago in Shoreditch, sponsored by Microsoft.

The event will cover a range of topics related to mobile and tablet games including: cloudgaming, consumer behaviour in freemium and mobile game loyalty, monetization, marketing and PR, self-publishing, HTML5 on mobile and the opportunities across platforms for developers.

TIGA’s aim at the conference is to enable developers and digital publishing to share best practice and information. Cloud gaming is an important recent development and Microsoft will be sharing its views on the subject with developers at the conference.

Andrew Webber, Microsoft Audience Marketing Lead for Windows Game Development, said:

“The term “cloud gaming” is usually associated with distribution scenarios for games, such as progressive download and video streaming on-demand. But the cloud offers game developers and studios a rich set of opportunities for enhancing game experiences and monetization. From AAA titles to app store download, the game now spans the app and the cloud.  Microsoft would like to share its perspective on this opportunity for large studios to indie app builders.”

The event, which has sold out, has a strong line-up of speakers from organisations including:

·        Microsoft

·        Channel 4

·        Fireproof Games

·        Flurry

·        Mediatonic

·        Rodeo Games

·        State of Play Games

·        Mudvark

·        Matmi

·        Premier PR

·        Lucky Frame

·        Mutant Labs

·        ARM

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA, said:

“The market for mobile and tablet games is growing and the opportunities for developers are significant. Yet the market is highly competitive. To succeed studios must not only develop a high quality game but also carefully consider a range of factors including gaming platforms, geographical markets, discoverability, monetisation, marketing and PR.

“The TIGA network enables developers and digital publishers to progress. Our Mobile and Tablet Games Conference features first class speakers from some of the most exciting games companies in the UK. I’d like to thank Microsoft for sponsoring our event and enabling developers to learn, share and network

TIGA, by sharing best practice, experiences and information, will enable developers to make the most of the mobile and tablet market.”
