TIGA and CMA host games industry competition law webinar

On the 21st June 2021, TIGA and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) hosted a webinar on competition law in the video games industry.

Following an introduction from TIGA CEO, Dr Richard Wilson OBE, guest speakers Catherine Bachelor, Director of Digital Taskforce, and Paul Trager, Assistant Director, delivered a presentation on the work of the CMA.

During this presentation, the CMA discussed their background, remit and scope and discussed the authority’s work on business cartels including advice to video games businesses on compliance and reporting.

Following this, the CMA discussed the role of their new Digital Markets Unit and gave an update on their ongoing Apple AppStore investigation.

The session concluded with questions from participants.
