Social Mobility in the Gaming Industry

By April 16, 2021 Press Releases

The Social Mobility Commission exists to see a UK where the circumstances of one’s birth do not determine outcomes in life.

Whether your business focuses on gaming, performance arts, film & entertainment, craft or fashion – the performance, productivity and commitment of your staff is key to your organisation’s success. Yet businesses throughout the creative industries are missing opportunities to recruit, promote and retain some of the most talented and driven people in our country.

Through our Employers Engagement team, we work with employers and industry trade bodies to create more inclusive and diverse socio-economic workforces – providing guidance and access to best practice across multiple sectors for businesses of all sizes.

We are currently working on launching a Creative-Industry sector specific toolkit design to support Employers wanting to address social mobility within their organisation.  This follows on from our cross-industry toolkit we published last year, and have now  created a bespoke one for those businesses within the Financial & Professional Service sector.

Our call to action:  We would love to get businesses from the Gaming Industry involved, and hear your experiences – so if you are a business that currently has socio-economic diversity at the heart of your people strategy, or are just starting on the journey to build inclusion within your organisation, we’d love to hear from you.  Contact Paula Kemp on paula.kemp@socialmobilitycommission.gov.uk
