ShortRound Games join TIGA

By February 13, 2012 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association
representing the UK games industry, today announced ShortRound Games as
their newest member.

ShortRound Games is an independent
games and media studio, which at its heart has the desire to provide quality
and innovation with everything it does. With a highly experienced and talented
team, ShortRound Games offers agile and cost effective solutions for all
real-time projects, large and small.

The studio is comprised of four industry veterans who have worked on
various projects like Burnout, Army of Two and the Moto GP franchise. The team met whilst working at Disney/Black
Rock. When they were made redundant they set up a studio and took all of their
experience in making larger AAA titles and applied it to Smartphone and Online
content.  After 4 months of Development
they shipped their first title Extraction:
Project Outbreak.

Since finishing Extraction the team has been working with other companies to help
bring their knowledge of realtime rendering and interaction to other areas
outside of games. They have also worked with a number of external companies
acting as a natural extension to their own in-house team.

In addition they provide solutions to
all areas of Art Resourcing from initial look development and art direction
through to asset creation on smartphone or console products.  From an engineering perspective they are able
to offer services ranging from gameplay prototyping through to physics and
networking .As well as developing the games side of their business they are
also keen to build the media side of their services and bring their knowledge
and desire to innovate other areas of interactive content.

Steve Uphill of ShortRound Games explains
the reason why he decided to join TIGA:

“The UK industry is home to some of the
most talented developers in the world and over the last 10 years we've created
some great software between us.  The
industry is now going through a period of change as it always does, however
this time we believe things will be different due to the increasing cost of
developing games.

We're joining TIGA
with the hope that they can help promote relationships between primarily
developers, but also publishers in order for them to collaborate on bigger projects
and help the UK to continue delivering great software.”

Dr. Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO welcomed the organisation to TIGA:

“At TIGA we are determined to create the best environment in the world
to do games businesses – particularly for start-up studios and small games
development businesses. TIGA is itself a small business run by developers for
developers so we understand the challenges and opportunities that new studios
face. We are delighted to welcome ShortRound Games to the TIGA network and we
look forward to supporting them in the months and years ahead.”
