PlanetPlay has announced the launch of its Advisory Board, featuring respected figures from the video games, technology, and environmental sectors.
It has been established to guide PlanetPlay’s executive team on encouraging further support from the games industry and players globally, and in maximising the impact of its environmental goals.
In short, the Advisory Board will work closely with PlanetPlay’s leadership team to enhance strategic direction, drive innovation, and ensure the sustainable growth and success of its mission to harness the power of games to create the most significant positive impact for our planet.
PlanetPlay’s ever-growing Make Green Tuesday Moves (MGTM) initiative enables players to make a real-world impact on the environment. It is also a key research partner for the UN Development Programme (UNDP).
Initial PlanetPlay Advisory Board members include:
John Hanke, CEO, Niantic
John Hanke is the Founder and CEO of Niantic, the celebrated mobile games studio that has got gamers out and about with Pokémon Go. Niantic is also a valued supporter of PlanetPlay’s Make Green Tuesday Moves campaign.
Baroness Bryony Worthington, House of Lords
Bryony Katherine Worthington, Baroness Worthington, is a British environmental campaigner and life peer in the House of Lords. She has promoted change in attitudes to the environment and action to tackle the current environmental challenges.
Tamzin Taylor, Head of Play Partnerships, Google
As the Head of Play Partnerships at Google Play, Tamzin Taylor leads a team of mobile apps and games experts who help top developers grow successful businesses on Android. Tamzin and Google have been hugely supportive of PlanetPlay and its Make Green Tuesday Moves initiatives.
Gail Gallie, CEO, Project Everyone
Gail Gallie co-founded Project Everyone alongside renowned director and screenwriter Richard Curtis. Project Everyone, a United Nations Global Partner for SDG Advocacy and Outreach, seeks to put the power of communications behind the Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Goals.
Halli Bjornsson, CEO, Lockwood Publishing
Halli Bjornsson is CEO of Lockwood Publishing, the games studio behind the mobile metaverse Avakin Life. He and the Lockwood team have already shown huge support to PlanetPlay as early supporters of the Make Green Tuesday Moves initiative.
Gi Fernando MBE, Entrepreneur, Impact Lead
Gi Fernando is the founder of many businesses including Techlightenment Freeformer and was also the advisor for Playmob, which was acquired by PlanetPlay in 2024. In 2017, he received an MBE for services to the digital economy and was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the Asian Achievers Awards. He supports businesses that are “valuable, profitable, and have social good built-in.”
