By October 4, 2022 No Comments

The TIGA Awards – which celebrate game developers, educators, technology and service providers – couldn’t take place without the generous support of our sponsors.

This year’s event takes place on Thursday November 10th at the prestigious Church House Westminster, providing an evening of celebration.

In this series of articles, we shine the spotlight on our supporters, showcasing their work and their thoughts on sponsoring the TIGA Awards 2022. Here’s Invest Newcastle…

Invest Newcastle, part of NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI) champion the city region on a national and international stage, providing dedicated support for businesses looking to relocate and expand. They partner with businesses throughout their investment journey and connect businesses with the city’s key players and opportunities. They also help to develop compelling business cases, facilitate access to finance, grants and incentives and help find the best space for businesses.

Newcastle and the wider region have one of the largest and most historic Games communities outside of London and it is already home to leading companies such as global video games brands Ubisoft and Epic Games, independent studios such as Nosebleed Interactive and gaming experience developers including Gamevy, mkodo and Bede Gaming. These companies have made a huge contribution to the games industry, our local economy, and have supported the creation of hundreds of skilled careers. The region’s immersive tech specialisms, world leading universities and impressive tech clusters, continues to see the gaming sector go from strength to strength.

A report by Ukie, highlighted Newcastle as a hotspot for gaming. The games association ranked Newcastle as one of 8 UK cities where gaming generates more than £60 million in GVA. Newcastle was the fourth biggest city, contributing £85.8 million – the biggest contribution of any gaming sector to its regional economy outside London.

The collaborative nature and strength networks undeniably creates value for businesses who want to build on their UK presence.
