GCSE and A level students receiving teacher assessment grades

By August 18, 2020 Uncategorized

The Government has announced that, this summer, students in England will receive teacher assessed grades for GCSE and A level results.

On Thursday 20 August 2020, students awaiting their GCSE results will receive a teacher assessed grade from their school or college.  Students who have received their A or AS level results, on Thursday 13 August 2020, will be reissued with their teacher assessed grade.  If a student has received a calculated grade that was higher than their teacher assessed grade, the higher calculated grade will stand.

Furthermore, to ensure that students can progress on to higher education, the Government has stated it will remove temporary student number controls for the coming academic year.

The Secretary of State for Education, Gavin Williamson MP, has said:

“We now believe it is better to offer young people and parents certainty by moving to teacher assessed grades for both A and AS level and GCSE results.”
