Creative Technologies Trade Mission to India Week Beginning 30 October

The Mission

 

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is organising a Creative Technologies Trade Mission to India, the week beginning 30 October 2023. The trade mission will have two main components. One focus will be a visit to the India Joy trade show in Hyderabad, which consists of 2 events a VFX summit on 31 and 1 October and the India Game Developer Conference between 2-4 November. Secondly, we will organise a visit to a second centre to visit key businesses, depending on interest, either to Mumbai or to Bengaluru.

 

Details are being planned currently and will be tailored to the needs of companies registering. Our offer aims to include the following:

  • Opportunity for companies to showcase their services.
  • Round Table Meetings & Networking
  • Closed door meetings with Govt & Industry representatives.
  • Networking opportunity with game developers and studios for cross collaboration
  • VIP Mixers or private dinners
  • Advice and support for doing business in India

 

India Market Background

 

The India Joy organisers say the Indian games sector is set to be almost worth £7 billion by 2027. The Indian visual effects and animation sector, according to Boston Consulting Group, was worth almost £240m in 2020 and is growing rapidly, driven by young people using 4 and 5G mobile phone technology and the expansion of TV streaming. Advertising revenues in 2020 were over £11BN (Statista 2021) and rising fast driven by digital growth but backed by stronger TV and print than most large markets.

 

Sector Focus

 

For the creative technologies trade mission, DBT would welcome expressions of interest from companies trading and providing services in the following areas:

 

  • Video games developers, publishers and services
  • Animation
  • Immersive technologies
  • Visual effects
  • Digital advertising and branding

 

Support Package

 

DBT will not offer grant support. The support package is still to be confirmed but it will likely include pre-event briefings, facilitated business introductions, networking events and site visits if we travel to Mumbai or Bengaluru.
