ARM becomes a member of TIGA

By September 5, 2013 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing the games industry, and ARM®, the world’s leading semiconductor intellectual property supplier, today announced that ARM is joining TIGA as a member and will be part of the board of TIGA.

ARM will work with TIGA to support its games development network, particularly its mobile and tablet developer members. Technology designed by ARM is at the heart of many of today’s digital electronic products, with the majority of all mobile handsets and tablets based on ARM’s technology.

ARM brings a unique perspective on the smartphone, tablet and smartTV markets to TIGA, highlighting future trends and innovation areas. ARM will help TIGA members to accelerate their developments in handsets and tablets and so make better games.

Dr. Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO, said:

“TIGA’s alliance with ARM will extend our capacity and reach to support the video games industry and TIGA members will be able to benefit from ARM’s knowledge and expertise in order to develop better games.”

“We look forward to working with ARM at a strategic and tactical level to strengthen the TIGA network of games developers and digital publishers. This alliance is just the beginning. Working together we will help developers. Strengthening the games development sector is our goal.”

Nizar Romdhane, director of ecosystem, Marketing, Media Processing Division, ARM, said:

“ARM is pleased to join TIGA and its board. We are committed to helping TIGA members create the next generation of great gaming experiences. The ARM business model and partnership approach enable us to share key insights from across the gaming ecosystem where we help leading companies achieve success through worldwide collaboration. ARM hopes to inspire and inform the TIGA community about what is possible using current and future technology, from mobile phones and tablets to smart TVs.”

About TIGA

TIGA is the trade association representing the video games industry. The majority of our members are either independent games developers or in-house publisher owned developers. We also have games publishers, outsourcing companies, technology businesses and universities amongst our membership. Since 2010, TIGA has won 16 business awards.

TIGA focuses on three sets of activities: political representation, generating media coverage and developing services that enhance the competitiveness of our members. This means that TIGA members are effectively represented in the corridors of power, their voice is heard in the media and they receive benefits that make a material difference to their businesses, including a reduction in costs and improved commercial opportunities.
