Antix Labs join TIGA

By April 10, 2012 Press Releases

TIGA, the
trade association representing the UK games industry, today announced Antix
Labs as their newest member.

Antix Labs are the developer of an
end-to-end solution for deployment of high performance casual and premium
games. Making games as shareable and social as consumers’ music, video and
photos when using Antix’s Game Player, virally distributed across phones,
tablets, TVs and PCs, on and off-network. Antix itself is based in Berkshire
and the company is staffed by a team with a long games heritage.

The Antix Game Player (“AGP”) is an
on-device software client for native games services licensed to multiple tier
one device makers. Third party casual, advanced casual and premium games are
distributed in a device-independent format similar in concept to MP3 or PDF.

This format lets consumers access and share games from any of their connected
AGP-powered 'screens', which include mobile phones, TVs, STBs, PMPs, and PCs.
In much the same way as they do already with music, photos and videos,
consumers can distribute trial games virally across networks and off-line to
their friends and family while still protecting the rights and revenues of
operators and publishers. In addition to AGP itself, Antix provides the corresponding
tools, certification mechanism, optional white-label store, and optional game
warehousing necessary to deploy a complete service offering.

Tim Cole of Antix Labs explains the reason why he decided to join TIGA:

“The Antix Game Player allows for truly social gaming – consumers can
recommend, share and challenge over a network or off-network when in immediate
proximity with friends and family. In addition to use cases compelling to
consumers, Antix has deployment and fulfilment opportunities that make us
hugely attractive to developers. Because of the innovation implicit in the AGP,
it is something that the highly innovative UK developer community can exploit
utilising its unique levels of creativity. TIGA has become an increasingly
important and respected organisation within our sector and our membership
allows us to show our support for TIGA whilst simultaneously enabling Antix to
get closer to the UK developer community.”

Dr. Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO welcomed the organisation to TIGA:

“Antix Labs are an extremely impressive high technology business
offering UK games developers the opportunity to have their games distributed
rapidly across a range of devices. Antix Labs are deeply committed to the
success of the UK games development sector. TIGA has already worked closely
with Antix Labs on the TIGA Games Competition, together with Abertay
University, ICT Tomorrow, CITIN and Turbulenz. Antix Labs are a great company
and we are proud to welcome them to the TIGA network.”
