The BFI have released their most recent report on Video Games certification, the full report can be found here.
The key findings are:
- Many video games development companies and animation production companies have shifted to remote working;
- The median budget for final video game certifications in 2021/2022 was £331,900, the highest figure since the tax relief was introduced;
- The majority of video games being developed and receiving final certification are small budget projects;
- In 2021/2022, 197 video games received interim certification with an associated UK spending of £1.1 billion and a total development budget of £1.3 billion, the largest value since the tax relief was introduced.
