TIGA Builds Link with Icelandic Developers

TIGA, thetrade association representing the UK games industry, is building connections
with the videogame sector in Iceland. Lorna Evans, TIGA's Project Manager, has
visited Iceland to give a talk on possible collaborations with the United
Kingdom.

She appeared
at a conference hosted by the Icelandic Gaming Industry called “The Future
Is Bright”.
There is great optimism in Iceland regarding the
potential of video gaming and digital entertainment for the country's economy. TIGA
has been helping to explore the opportunities for closer links between the two
countries games developers.

Evans said:

“There is potential for collaboration between developers in
the UK and Iceland. There is an opportunity for developers to share knowledge
and build connections.  International
connections can help to promote growth.”

Evans is
TIGA's Project Manager and she has 15 years' experience of working in games,
television and innovative technologies. She worked on some of Eidos's largest
titles in the 1990s including Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and Championship
Manager, launched Sky+ and brought Sponge Bob to the UK whilst at Nickelodeon.

Icelandic Gaming Industry (IGI) Sigurdur Eggert Gunnarsson, said:

“Icelandic Gaming Industry is happy to welcome TIGA to
Iceland to begin collaboration with the UK Games Industry. It marks the first
steps of a relationship that will bring networking and new business
opportunities to the Icelandic Gaming Industry and also strengthen the current
network of TIGA. TIGA’s success in securing tax breaks for UK gaming companies
is an example for us to follow.”
