TIGA AWARDS finalists revealed

By October 16, 2012 Press Releases

After weeks of nomination submissions and a massivevote from the development community, the TIGA Games Industry Awards 2012 can
now announce the category finalists.

The calibre of entries was incredibly high. TIGA was
inundated with votes from the development community on their favourites across
all categories and for the special Game of the Year award. The finalists
showcase the wealth of talent in the industry both from the UK and overseas.

There are 20 award categories in total, in a hybrid
system with ‘Games Categories’ open to the entire industry and ‘Business of
Games’ open for entry exclusively for TIGA members. Categories include three
special awards: ‘Game of the Year’, ‘Person of the Year’ and ‘Friend of the
Sector’.

Dr Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO said:

“We introduced the TIGA Awards to celebrate creative
and technical excellence and to highlight business professionalism in the games
industry. There have been a great number of entries for the TIGA Awards and the
quality of the entries has been superb. The Awards have captured the
imagination of many in the industry as there has been a huge vote from the
development community. I’d like to thank all of the games businesses for
entering the Awards, the community for participating in the vote and for the
judges who have freely given of their time to help determine the winners of the
TIGA Awards.”

Jason
Kingsley OBE, TIGA Chairman and CEO and Creative Director at Rebellion, said:

“I’m delighted that the TIGA Awards
have generated such an enthusiastic response from so many in the games
industry. TIGA exists to strengthen the UK games industry: these Awards will
provide a tangible demonstration of the excellence in our industry and serve to
promote best practice.”

The TIGA Games Industry 2012 awards ceremony will take
place on the evening of 1st November as part of the ExPlay Festival at the Bath
Assembly Rooms. Tickets for the event and after party can be purchased here
