The Government has responded to a written question on Horizon Europe

On 1 April 2021, Parliamentary Under Secretary, Lord Callanan, responded to a written question on the Horizon Programme.

The question, which was asked by Labour peer Baroness Morgan of Huyton, inquired into how the Government intend to fund the UK’s participation in the Horizon Europe research programme.

Horizon Europe is the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation.

Baroness Morgan of Huyton (Labour): To ask Her Majesty’s Government how they intend to fund the UK’s participation in the Horizon Europe research programme.

Lord Callanan (Parliamentary Under Secretary): I am pleased that the UK reached an agreement to take part in the Horizon Europe programme. Association to Horizon has been welcomed by businesses and the research community and will bring huge benefits to the UK. We are continuing to work through the details of the costs for Horizon Europe. We will set out our plans for R&D spend in 2021/22 – including funding for Horizon Europe – in due course.
