The Government has announced £400 million for regional R&D projects across the UK

On 26 June 2020 the Government announced that seven major research and innovation projects across the UK will receive government and industry funding.

Businesses and universities in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Cardiff, Bristol, Liverpool and Kent will receive funding to work on projects including zero-emissions technology for maritime vessels and smart-packaging to cut food waste.

The investment is part of UK Research and Innovation’s (UKRI) Strength in Places Fund. The projects will receive a share of £186 million government investment and a further £230 million from private firms and research institutions.
