On 3 August 2020, the Government announced £20 million of funding to improve small business leadership and problem solving, in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
There will be two new leadership programmes, designed to help businesses grow their companies:
- The Small Business Leadership Programme will focus on strengthening leadership and management skills, some of which have arisen from a transition to remote working during the coronavirus crisis. This will be a 10 week programme which will be delivered by experts from university business schools.
- The Peer Networks Programme will focus on helping business owners improve their problem-solving skills, through a series of guided exercises. Members of the programme will be given skills in areas such as leadership and management, sales and marketing that they need to tackle these challenges head-on while growing their business.
