Team 17 joins TIGA

By June 7, 2012 No Comments

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, todayannounced Team 17 as their newest member.

Team17 is an
independent digital publisher and development studio. Founded in 1990, Team17 was a hugely popular
Amiga developer, with titles such as Alien Breed, Superfog and Project X. 1995
saw the release of Worms, the brand with which the company has become
synonymous. In 2011 the business was subject to a MBO by Team17 Co-founder and
current Managing Director, Debbie Bestwick. In the same year the company fully
completed the switch to a digital only content publisher.

Team 17 celebrates
its  22nd  year as a British independent developer and
publisher and is fiercely proud of the fact. Worms Revolution is the most
ambitious game the company had ever created which is due for launch in
September it will appear on Xbox360, PlayStation3 and PC.

Debbie Bestwick,
Managing Director/Owner of Team 17 explains the reason why she decided to join
TIGA:

“Team17 is delighted
to be a member of TIGA. The company’s metamorphosis from  an independent developer into a global
digital publisher has presented the business with numerous challenges and
opportunities. The end result is that Team17 is now one of the first of its
kind to be in total control of its own destiny within the exciting
direct-to-consumer digital marketplace. TIGA can help represent Team17 and the
industry’s interests in addition to allowing us to share our experiences with
our peers.”

Dr. Richard Wilson,
TIGA CEO welcomed the organisation to TIGA:

“Given Team17's
incredible pedigree and standing within the videogames industry, we are
extremely excited to be having them on board as members of TIGA. The company
has strong roots, is well known and regarded among players, and it continues to
be innovative, in particular building upon its excellent and popular Worms
franchise. TIGA can only become stronger with Team 17 on board and we look
forward to working with them.”
