Pearson are proud to sponsor the TIGA Game Industry Awards 2020

By November 25, 2020 Press Releases

Leading learning company Pearson is proud to be a sponsor of the 2020 TIGA Game Industry Awards. TIGA, the trade association representing the UK video games industry, has been celebrating excellence in video games for almost a decade. TIGA’s flagship event is one of the video games industry’s most exciting and prestigious occasions.

Pearson works closely with industry experts to provide qualifications and training to support people to access careers in this important and thriving industry.   A number of Pearson’s BTECs support routes into employment in the sector, offering high-quality, career-focused qualifications grounded in the real world of work, giving learners the knowledge and skills employers and universities are looking for:

  • BTECs in Creative Media offer qualifications in games design and development
  • BTECs in IT and Computing offer qualifications in programming and development for games
  • The new BTEC in Esports, launched earlier this year, delivers learning strategies in coaching, producing events and marketing for esports. Esports is projected to generate revenues of around £1 billion in 2020.

Pearson College’s Escape Studios also offers undergrad, postgrad and short courses in Visual Effects (VFX), Game Art, Animation and Motion Graphics.

Cindy Rampersaud, Senior Vice President for BTEC and Apprenticeships at Pearson, said:

“We are delighted to sponsor these awards and support those excelling in this fast moving and exciting industry. My congratulations to all the nominees, and the winners as they are announced this week.

“The world of gaming offers huge employment potential, both in the UK and across the world. The Esports and gaming marketing sector, for example, has grown significantly in recent times, with over 500m individuals actively engaged. With this growth has come opportunities to support the ecosystem of the industry across a range of roles, and Pearson’s qualifications and courses provide a number of routes in.  Many of the skills and roles are also transferable to other industries – supporting access and progression into other careers. ”

Dr Richard Wilson OBE, TIGA CEO, said:

“The TIGA Games Industry Awards celebrate the achievements of small, medium and large games development studios and excellence in business, education and games development and publishing. I am delighted that Pearson are sponsoring this year’s TIGA Games Industry Awards. Pearson, the world’s learning company, provide a number of excellent qualifications relevant to our industry. This is so important because the UK video games industry competes on the quality of its workforce. Thank you Pearson for generously sponsoring this year’s Awards and for partnering with TIGA.”
