Dundee City West MSP Joe FitzPatrick, Convenor of the Cross Party Group on Computer Games Technology at the Scottish Parliament, today attended a workshop at Scottish Enterprise aimed at ensuring that the implementation of promised tax breaks by the UK Government works well for the video games industry.

Joe FitzPatrick said: “The video games body TIGA and Scottish Enterprise organised a serious of workshops for games developers in order to work out how the tax breaks promised by the Chancellor can best work for the benefit of the sector, which is a significant employer in Dundee.

“It is vital that the UK Government ensures that small and medium sized companies (which account for the bulk of firms in Dundee) are able to access the scheme without unnecessary bureaucracy and paperwork. These SMEs offer the greatest potential to create jobs in our city, particularly for young people.”
