FIRST ROUND OF SPEAKERS CONFIRMED FOR EDINBURGH INTERACTIVE 2011

25 May 2011 – London,United Kingdom – Edinburgh Interactive 2011,
being held at The Radisson Blu Hotel on the Royal Mile, on the 11th
& 12th August, today announce the first round of speakers and
topics for this year’s conference and public programmes.

Conference session: People & Money

Edward Williams of BMO Capital Markets and Sean
Dromgoole of GameVision, on stage together, will present their different points
of view on recent developments in the games industry and particularly the
extent and the value of gamers developing interest in social gaming.

Edward
S. Williams is Managing Director at BMO
Capital Markets and a senior analyst in BMO Capital Markets’ Equity Research
Group, covering the interactive entertainment and leisure industries.
Edward publishes GamePlay, a monthly review of the interactive
entertainmentindustry.

Sean
Dromgoole is CEO of Some Research & GameVision and has been delivering
consumer research to the games industry for 14 years. Sean administers
the GameVision reports which are the industry standard for usage and attitude
tracking (who plays what and why) in Europe and the US. He also runs Some Research
which is a qualitative strategic research and has worked on the launch of over
300 games and consoles.

Conference session: How We Got Benedict Cumberbatch on a
Spaceship and How You Could, Too – Games, Story and New Funding Models

Paul
Bennun is Executive Director of Somethin’ Else, possibly the leading content
design company in the UK. Paul will speak about games, multiplatform
content and brands. A multi-award-winning game designer, mobile technologist
and linear content producer, Paul also presents science, technology and
usability programmes for the BBC.

Public session: The Craft of Animation and
Storytelling in Games

How does good character development, telling a
compelling story and strong character development improve the chances of
success for a game? Kevin Beimers, Art
Director at Straandlooper Animation will look at game development from the
perspective of an animation studio and how they applied their skills and
experience in creating content for TV to the development of a cult adventure
game hit. Straandlooper Animation, creators of the acclaimed iPhone – and now
multi-platform – point & click adventure game‘Hector: Badge of
Carnage’,
share their experience of developing their first game
