Chair of DCMS Select Committee writes to the Chancellor regarding extending the furlough scheme for the arts and leisure sectors

On 3 September 2020, the Chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee, Julian Knight MP, wrote to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, requesting that the furlough scheme be extended for the creative, arts and leisure sectors.

Julian Knight MP highlighted the importance of continuing a flexible furlough scheme for these industries, as nearly one-quarter of arts, entertainment and recreation companies report a severe or moderate risk of insolvency, compared with 11% across all industries.
