About time

By December 10, 2012 No Comments

About
Time is based on an award-winning quiz game. It’s fast and infectious, with no
waiting your turn as everyone plays in every round. Choose a great historical
figure – Napoleon, Joan of Arc, Cleopatra or Beethoven – and march onto the
stage of history!

You’ve
got 30 seconds to beat your opponents by guessing the year of an event. There
are no wrong answers as you only have to guess closer than the other players.

Like history itself, the About Time board is littered with pitfalls and
surprises. You can catch the Plague, be held up by Highwaymen or be
challenged to a Duel and see your fortunes rise and fall…

About
Time questions come in six categories – Heroes & Villains, The Arts,
Everyday Life, Innovation, Word & Thought and State & Nation. From
Ancient Greece to the Eurovision Song Contest, if it made the headlines, we
have it covered.

All
you need is curiosity, fast fingers and a love of timeless fun!

The Board Game

About
Time board game has won consistently great reviews through its various editions
since it was launched on Dragons’ Den in 2007. In 2008 the game was sold
through major high street shops and independent stores, and a special picture
edition featuring Guardian front pages was launched with The Guardian
newspaper. The game achieved high street success in the UK and was picked up by
the CEO of Barnes & Noble in 2009.

It was a major hit in Germany and is
also sold in Australia. In 2011 it won the Bizzie Baby Gold Award from parents,
who called it ‘fantastic’.

Circa Circa launched About Time board game on
Dragons’ Den Christmas special in 2007. Although the Dragons turned down the
chance to plough £50,000 into the company, the inventors were able to launch it
in Hamleys and Borders.

About
Time, which has sold tens of thousands in the UK, Germany and USA, started as a
bit of home-made fun with some old chronology books in a North London flat and
progressed over two years to a finished product. The inventors, – journalist
Joe Gill, vet and filmmaker IainMcGill, designer and artist Michele Rosaus and
education consultant Matt Gould – wanted to be sure that it was a truly
entertaining, balanced and beautiful product, with elements of luck, knowledge
and high stakes to satisfy the vital components of all great board games. The
pay off was so many punters and reviewers agreeing they had created a genuinely
great game.

Nellyvision was formed after the Second Life makers
Linden Lab closed down in the UK in 2010. Two games industry veterans, Elaine
Green and Gabriel Lee, set out with the intention of straddling the difficult
area between 'media' and games. Since then they have worked on many amazing
things for many amazing people; Augmented Reality for SIGGRAPH Chair Rebecca
Strzelec, CUDA and maths madness with point clouds for Digicave, Iris Connect's
new multi camera video app and iOS news casting for the
masses for NewsFlare – amongst many others.

Several
games have also come out of this spate of activity and as 2012 moves into 2013
About Time will be the first of a slick new games catalog for the company. This
will include a range of educational games, along with good old fashioned
shoot-em-ups
