Up to £25,000 available per project
– Open UK-wide, for new games and digital content
– Deadline Friday 13th April 12pm
New
and young companies have just one week to apply for grants of up to £25,000
from the current round of the University of Abertay Dundee’s Prototype Fund.
The
Prototype Fund gives creative businesses the funding to develop a new
prototype, allowing them to overcome the critical early funding gap for many
small firms. Further funding rounds will follow.
Application
details are available at http://prototypefund.abertay.ac.uk/
– a form and pitch video need to be submitted by 12pm on Friday 13th April.
Paul
Durrant, Director of Business Development at Abertay, said: “The Prototype Fund
lets promising young companies across the UK overcome the difficulties of raising
enough money to get started.
“Bank
lending can be incredibly difficult to access for new businesses, particularly
those working on games and interactive digital content. What we’re offering is
a way to bring your product or prototype to life – and then take it to market,
or pitch for the further investment you need.
“We’ve
seen some brilliant successes already, including one £25,000 investment
bringing an additional £800,000 from a publisher. This is a superb opportunity
for new and young creative companies.”
Successful
applicants also have the option of taking office space, and hardware and
software, in Abertay’s Prototyping Studio.
All
funded teams receive business mentoring from the Prototype Funding team, as
well as opportunities to meet funders and publishers.
The
Prototype Fund takes no equity or intellectual property (IP) ownership in the
companies it supports. The aim is to create sustainable businesses which
control their own IP.
