Chris White MP chairs special event on establishing the UK as the world’s most significant hub for quality games education at Westminster on November 23rd 2016
TIGA, the network for games developers and ditigal publishers and the trade association representing the games industry, has released a detailed report looking at UK education and the video games sector.

The report’s findings were published at a special Westminster event hosted by Member of Parliament for Warwick and Leamington, Chris White. He was joined by representatives from 25 of the UK’s leading universities, to discuss establishing the UK as the world’s leading destination for games education and learning.

TIGA’s report itself explores the opportunities, challenges and best practice inherent in delivering games-focused education to the next generation of UK game development talent, and includes insights from educators, studios and other experts.

“World leading games education can be a foundation for world leading game development,” said Dr Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO, on unveiling the report. “We are lucky to have some of the world’s finest game educators already call the UK home. We hope the findings of our report and the discussion at Westminster will further the UK’s position as a world leader in this regard.

“The UK’s games education system has many strengths. We have some world class universities educating excellent graduates for the games industry. We have a highly skilled workforce. We the TIGA Accreditation system which accredits the best games courses. We have studios investing in their teams – 80 per cent of our studios invest in training. If we can increase industry and university collaboration, enhance investment in training and maintain a flexible migration policy as we head towards Brexit, then we can make the UK the best place in the world for training, learning and education in games.”
The TIGA report, titled ‘Making the UK a World Leader in Games Education’, will be available via Suzi Stephenson at TIGA.
