‘National Conversation’ about education – Call for TIGA members to take part

By October 15, 2024 No Comments

The Government has launched a ‘National Conversation’ about education – and we would be keen to hear your thoughts from a games development perspective.

The Department for Education is inviting proposals on improving the current curriculum and assessment system, so this is a great opportunity to ensure that games development education is not overlooked.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on what you believe works, what doesn’t, and potential improvements. For example:

  • What works well in the UK’s education and skills system and what needs to change?
  • Does Further and Higher education need greater funding?
  • Should the existing apprenticeship levy be transformed into a general training levy, enabling employers to invest in any high-quality training programme or even sponsor students and cover their higher education fees?
  • Are visa fees for high skilled workers too high?
  • Should individual learners be incentivised to up-skill via Government funded vouchers? Do universities need more assistance to help spin off start-up studios?

The deadline for TIGA to collectively submit some important feedback from the UK’s games industry is November 22nd, so if you would like to air your views, please get in touch with us by November 15th.
