Ireland and UK expand cooperation through digital humanities

By August 6, 2021 No Comments

Eleven new research projects were announced on 4 August by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Irish Research Council to join up expertise in digital humanities.

The projects aim to combine arts and humanities with digital technology on a wide range of topics including tackling online hate in football and understanding digital feminism. They are intended to develop new research techniques, bring innovative approaches to community engagement and enhance cultural understanding and access to heritage. The institutions that will be included in the projects include the British Museum and the Football Association of Wales.

The research grants are led by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Irish Research Council. It builds on the existing ‘UK-Ireland Collaboration in the Digital Humanities’ scoping workshop that took place in Dublin in October 2019 and the UK-Ireland Collaboration in the Digital Humanities Research Networking Call launched in 2020.
