TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, has welcomed Cambridge Mercantile Group as its latest member.

Cambridge Mercantile was established nearly 20 years ago, and has since become the second largest non-bank provider of foreign currency globally. In 2012 the business turned over in excess of $30 billion, in more than 140 currencies from 19 offices, and assisted over 20,000 clients improve payment processes and protect bottom line profitability.

The value Cambridge Mercantile offers, in terms of cost savings and profitability is delivered by reducing clients’ fees for making and receiving payments and providing global expertise on the best times for businesses to exchange currencies.

Of particular potential interest to TIGA members is Cambridge Mercantile’s new E4X e-commerce solution, which enables UK businesses selling in a global, digital marketplace, to display, price and sell digital goods in the local foreign currency of the shopper.

Making online shopping easier for international buyers by displaying prices in local currency, while providing the exact payment amount the seller anticipates, in their preferred currency is essential to maximise potential revenue from international shoppers.

Makella Benjamin, Business Development Manager for Cambridge Mercantile Group, said:    “After attending a networking event, I am happy to now become a member of TIGA.  After talking to a number of studios, developers and publishers I found there was a recurring theme.  When doing projects or receiving royalties from doing work internationally, they were not getting a proactive or cost efficient service from their banking providers when converting currencies into sterling or vice versa.  Not only is this an exciting industry to be involved in, but the ever evolving changes in tax and EU regulations are making it challenging for companies to save money.   I hope that we can continue to extend monetary savings to TIGA members and further benefit the community.”

Dr Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA, added:                                                                                                      “We warmly welcome Cambridge Mercantile Group as new members of TIGA and support its drive to UK games businesses optimise both their revenue and profitability from selling in a global, digital games market. TIGA is well-placed to help connect the developer community and those innovative service providers that can help them build successful and growing busiensses.”
