Mission from Rio Grande do Sul State Government aims for investments in the United Kingdom

8th of May at the Four Seasons Hotel London at

Led by the
State Governor Mr. Tarso Genro a delegation will participate on a business
mission to the UK between the 7th and 10th of May. The
group is composed of representatives from the State Government, executives and
leaders in the educational area and focuses on prospecting new businesses,
creating co-operation agreements, exchanging experience and bringing new
commercial opportunities to Rio Grande do Sul.

The State
Department for Trade Promotion and Attraction Investment (SDPI) is organising the
project. “One of the reasons for this trip is our intention of making Rio
Grande Sul an international and attractive State for outside investments.” said
the SDPI State Secretary Mr. Mauro Knijnik.

The Seminar
“Doing Business in Rio Grande do Sul” is the main point of the mission and will
be held on the 8th of May at the Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM. The encounter will explore the business
possibilities and investment in Rio Grande do Sul. The State Governor Mr. Tarso
Genro, will be a lecturer  with  the Brazil Ambassador in the UK Mr. Roberto
Jaguaribe plus the State Secretary Mr. Mauro Knijnik. Meanwhile a co-operation
agreement will be signed by Rio Grande do Sul State Government and British Gas
aiming to stimulate technology transfer.

The Vice President of the Industrial Federation of Rio Grande do Sul
(FIERGS) Mr. Ricardo Felizzola and the dean of the Federal University of Rio
Grande do Sul (UFRGS) Mr. Carlos Alexandre Netto will also accompany the
mission. Mr. Felizzola will present aspects of Rio Grande do Sul economy. Mr. Netto
will highlight the educational system and tech parks.

 

Among  the companies that will be presented during
the conference there will be CEEE Group, Petrobras, Escala Agency and Braskem.
“Defining areas of common interest which are aligned with the State Industrial
Policy is a permanent challenge” highlights the President of Rio Grande do Sul
Industrial Development Agency (AGDI) Mr. Marcus Coester.

Highlights of the Itinerary

On the 9th of May Mr. Tarso Genro and leaders will have breakfast at the
British Parliament. The group will also have a meeting with investment fund companies.

 

The creative economy is one of the core points of the new State Industrial
Policy and it will be further explored during the visit to Ravensbourve
University in London.

The strong tradition in design and arts of the institution
can bring new insights to the delegation. The group will meet with British
incubators and a roundtable will discuss policies for company start-ups and
incubators.

 

The group will
visit with the TechCity and its high concentration of tech based and creative
companies. During the occasion the Governor will talk about international entrepreneurship
and go through a few successful case studies.

At the end a business cooperation
agreement will be signed with Tecnopuc, AGDI, United Kingdom Trade Investment
and Tech City. The event will gather members of the State administration and
representatives from the petrochemical,

energy,
infrastructure, creative industry and pharmaceutical areas.

 

On the 10th
the group will go to Aberdeen, Scotland where they will participate on the “III Brazil-UK Oil & Gas Meeting”. The event is
focused on offshore industry and it will debate the cooperation in human
resources and building of competences.
