David Cameron urged to remember the video games industry

By July 31, 2012 Press Releases

TIGA, the trade association representing theUK video games industry, urged the Prime Minister David Cameron to remember the
video games industry when urging investors to back the country's industry.

The Prime Minister had told an audience
including the Duchess of Cambridge that he urged overseas investors to back the
UK's art, film, television, music and literature (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-19051220).
He also said the Olympic opening ceremony had shown the country's
“incredible” talent, praising the creativity of British art,
television, music, drama, literature and cultural industries.

Dr Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO, said:

“The PM and the Coalition Government made an excellent
decision in the March 2012 Budget when they agreed to introduce Games Tax
Relief, a measure which will help the UK video games development sector and one
which TIGA has campaigned for over the last four years. However, we do hope
that the Prime Minister will in future remember to sing the praises of the UK
video games industry. The sector provides thousands of highly skilled jobs, is
export focused and with the advent of Games Tax Relief should be very
attractive to external investors.”
