UK Games Fund selects winners for its Pitch Development Programme

The UK Games Fund has announced eight winners of Pitch Development Programme. The programme was created and funded by the UK Government to help independent developers improve pitching and development skills.

The Pitch Development Programme has been introduced to support those teams that don’t meet the criteria for the straight application route to the UK Games Fund’s £25,000 grants. It supports high potential teams as they develop prototype games ready to be shown off at a consumer games show later in the year. Each team will be given the chance to pitch their prototype to a panel of industry experts, competing for a grant of up to £25,000 from the UK Games Fund.

Teams will also receive a cash and in-kind package equivalent to £10,000 in value when selected to take part in the programme.

Dr Richard Wilson OBE, TIGA CEO, said:

“Access to finance is a challenge for many start-ups and small games development studios. The UK Games Fund – a Government intervention which TIGA has consistently supported – helps to address this problem.  Congratulations to the eight winning teams.

“If we are to ensure that the UK video games industry is to achieve its potential then it is important that we retain successful and effective measures such as the UK Games Fund and Video Games Tax Relief. We should also consider the introduction of a Video Games Investment Fund (GIF). A GIF would improve access to capital, promote growth and innovation in the sector and build on the success of the UK Games Fund.”
