TIGA Welcomes Scottish Affairs Committee’s Support for new Investment in the Video Games Sector

TIGA, the network for games developers and digital publishers and the trade association representing the video games industry, welcomed the House of Commons’ Scottish Affairs Committee’s proposal that the UK Government should consult with the U.K. video games industry on establishing a distributor for National Lottery funds, following a similar model to the BFI for film. The Scottish Affairs Committee made the proposal in its report on The Creative Industries in Scotland, published today.

Dr Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO, said:

“TIGA strongly supports the Scottish Affairs Committee’s proposal that the UK Government should discuss with the video games industry on establishing a distributor for National Lottery funds to power the video games industry forward. This represents a powerful endorsement of a long standing TIGA policy. TIGA has argued for many years for the establishment of a Creative Content Fund to provide investment in the video games sector. TIGA looks forward to the Government’s response to the Committee’s report and discussing with the Government about the adoption of this important proposal which could further promote investment and innovation in the sector.”
